Throughout 2022-23, the Ben Agger Theory Library will be expanding service. Last year, with the help of a grant from Humanities Texas, we installed a card reader lock on the library and funded a GRA. This Fall we will have two GRAs, Andrea Jenkins (Sociology) and Paul Ruiz-Requena, staffing the library for a total of 20 hours. The Library also has a system to allow faculty and graduate students to check out books – just make requests to me.
With these improvements, I’d like to expand our offerings. I’m inviting all faculty who teach graduate student courses to make books available in the library for their students to access for free. If you have spare books, please donate them to make them available. If you do not have spare books, we are going to be able to purchase the books when the semester starts up. This will save our graduate students money and help to build a community for graduate students as they begin to utilize the space.
We’re also going to be moving the library to a bigger space and making huge improvements this Fall. But more on that to come in late August.
Please email those graduate course book lists to David Arditi, so we can begin to make books available.
