Grace Brannon Colloquium, November 11 at 12pm in University Hall 432Join us November 11, 2024 at 12pm in University Hall 432 for Dr. Grace Brannon‘s colloquium presentation, “Exploring Communication Theory in Patient-Provider Interactions: Pathways to Health.”

Communication is central to the health-care interactions between patients, families, and clinicians. Patient-centered communication (PCC) can affect health outcomes, with PCC breakdowns causing distress and worsened patient experiences. This presentation will highlight social cognitive theory and the ecological model of communication in medical interactions within the context of patients who have had a telehealth visit with their provider in the past year. Findings highlight communication and rapport building processes even amidst telehealth-oriented healthcare delivery systems.
